Apps for Robots
I have been working as freelance iOS developer -and sometimes Android developer- in and out for the last four years. My main experience has been with native Objective C/C++ for iOS, but I have since done mild incursions into Swift programming. Even though Swift is more modern and expressive, I sometimes favour Objective C mostly because it makes interoperability with C++ libraries very easy.
During my stint at FLIR I wrote an App that was capable of both controlling a whole family of robots and streaming video from their cameras in real time. FLIR provides solutions of Radiometry, Thermal and Natural vision cameras for civil and military operations, such as heat monitoring.
Operators can use tablet of mobile devices for this purpose.
Other uses of their powerful and field ready robots include laser based perimeter security, and border control.
